A weekend in the beautiful Perthshire, Scotland

I was delighted to having spent yet another weekend in our amazing countryside and this weekend she really showed her true colours!

We were at Loch Tay, the largest loch in Perthshire at about 15 miles long and 1 mile wide, at one end of the Loch you will find Killin, a wonderful little village with the Dochart Falls going through the village and several great little pubs. At the other end you have Kenmore, also a fantastic little village, setting right on the banks of Loch Tay.

This particular weekend we enjoyed the most stunning reflections I have seen anywhere in Scotland. In advance I apologise for the very similar photos, but it was too magical not to share these wonderful moments looking onto Loch Tay. So here are another few reasons why you should make your visit to Scotland!

Enjoy!

How fresh and local fish are caught in Scotland! Even with the small fishing boats crossing the Loch, this did not spoil the beautiful view, in fact these made it even more spectacular.

We stopped at Acharn village, from there we walked towards the ‘Hermit’s Cave’, which was about a 20 minute walk from Acharn. When arriving, watch for the sign on the left to the ‘Hermit’s Cave’, from there it leads you onto a viewing balcony, with a fabulous view to the waterfall. From there we followed the path around to Kenmore (following the yellow arrows on the wooden polls).

When we arrived back to the main road, taking a left along the road back towards Acharn village, you will find the Crannog Centre (http://www.crannog.co.uk/). This is a centre which shows the methods of construction of the Crannogs as build by the original ‘Crannog People’ in the distant past (2,500 years ago) by Loch Tay, Scotland.

After having witnessed he most amazing reflections and sunrise earlier in the day, on route back from our visit to Aberfeldy we witnessed a truly stunning sunset across the Loch Tay, again the best that I had seen to date!
